Hand and Foot Card Class  
 
Come join us and learn Hand and Foot!
There’s elements of strategy, a touch of luck, and a lot of cards involved. Once you get the hang of it, it’s SO much fun.

THE GIST OF THE GAME

The goal of Hand And Foot is to win the most points by creating “books” of cards. The player to get rid of their first cards is the winner of that round, with the game consisting of 4 rounds. Each player is dealt two sets of cards – the hand, which is played first, and the foot, which is played when the hand is finished.  Lots of fun and simple to learn!

Our movie selection for September has been picked.
It is DENIAL and can be viewed on NETFLIX.
DENIAL is a 2016 biographical film directed by Mick Jackson and written by David Hare, based on Deborah Lipstadt’s 2005 book History on trial: My day in court with a Holocaust denier.  

Israel with be our Group Leader
We will meet in the Sequoia Room on Saturday, September 26th at 5 pm.
Dinner at the Club House after – optional.

All Things Flowers – Create Something Beautiful!

You’re invited to the All Things Flowers class on September 1 at 1:30-3pm, where you’ll learn to create a flower design with a stuffed dog made of carnations, with a $15 material fee, and you’re asked to RSVP and bring a smaller basket if available.

The cost for supplies is $15.00, payable by cash or check.

Class size is limited to the first 25 participants, so please RSVP as soon as possible. We will maintain a waitlist if needed.

Would you like to go on a safari without leaving San Jose? Here’s your chance!

Thursday September 24th.

  • The park is located at
    Senior Safari admission and parking are free IF YOU ARRIVE BETWEEN 9 a.m and 9:30a.m. ,
     You will need to fill out forms and then be allowed to enter. Guests who enter before 10 a.m. may stay the whole day for free!
    Anyone arriving after 9:30 will have to pay regular parking and zoo admission.
    Please note:   This is a trip that involves walking – it is a 10 minute walk from the parking lot to the park’s main gate. And then there is walking within the park.
    Happy Hollow is dedicated to helping save species and preserve wildlife for future generations by participating in Species Survival Plan programs.
    Laugh together on a variety of family-friendly rides, watch a puppet show and enjoy the pollinator habitats created by Happy Hollow.

    Space is limited, so if you are interested in joining us this June, please let me know as soon as possible.

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW SAN JOSE?

We all know that San Jose is the 10th largest city in the United States—but did you know that our city is also filled with an amazing collection of murals, sculptures, and public art, much of it free for everyone to enjoy?

The Study Groups Club is planning a Walking Art Tour  on Saturday , October 3rd to discover some of these colorful and creative treasures right in our own backyard!

One of the highlights will be the 100 Block Mural Project, where ordinary city spaces have been transformed into extraordinary works of art. Along the way, we’ll discover more fascinating sculptures, murals, and artistic surprises.

Come enjoy a beautiful day outdoors, get some exercise, meet fellow Study Groups members, and see San Jose through a whole new artistic lens!

We will reflect on last month’s topics and comments:  The California Jungle Primary, Voter Fraud and Fraud in general; and end on a high note (so PLEASE bring a joke or two to share).

Line Dancing

Hello Line Dancers,

This is a reminder that our beginner line dancing class will be held this Thursday, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the Cribari Auditorium.

Please remember to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.

Remember, this class is for fun – not perfection.  If you are moving- YOU ARE DOING IT RIGHT! So come and enjoy your neighbors, the  music and get a little exercise.

Join MEXICAN TRAIN

Ever wanted to learn and play the incredibly popular game Mexican Train—and wondered why so many people love it? The answer is simple: it’s easy to learn, engaging, and combines strategy with just the right amount of luck and the Villages Study Groups Club has the time and place for you!
Mexican Train is played with double-12 dominoes. Players build connected “trains” (chains of dominoes) starting from a central hub. The goal is to empty your hand and end each round with the lowest possible score. After multiple rounds, the player with the lowest total score wins—making it a fun mix of skill, strategy, and chance.
Come meet new friends and reconnect with old ones on Tuesday at 6:30 PM in the Redwood Room – Cribari.
